Yang Ming accepts 11,000-TEUer to upgrade S America service
Date:2021-06-22 Readers:
TAIWAN's Yang Ming Marine Transport accepted a delivery of an 11,000 TEU unit to further enhance Yang Ming's operating competitiveness, reports the American Journal of Transportation.

Yang Ming took delivery the YM Tiptop to be deployed to the Far East and South American service SA3.

The company ordered a total of fourteen 11,000 TEU newbuildings through long-term charter agreements with shipowners.

These types of vessels adopt the twin-island design to increase loading capacity and navigational visibility to ensure more efficiency and safety.

The new vessels will lower the average age of its global fleet, reducing unit cost and achieving energy efficiency.

The deployment of the SA3 service will better meet customer needs, maximise capacity utilisation, and strengthen Yang Ming's position in South American markets.
