THE Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced a congestion surcharge (CGS) to maintain the service at the required level through US and Canada ports.
Congestion has greatly impacted vessel operations and created bottlenecks across the country, MSC said resulting in the application of the surcharge from September 1.
Thus, from that date, arrival in US and Canadian ports of discharge, the surcharge will be US$800 per cent TEU, $1,000 per FEU, $1,125 per FEU high cubed and $1,266 per 45=footer.
"MSC is monitoring the situation closely and will inform you as soon as operations will return to normal," said the customer advisory.
