Shenzhen 8-month volume up 11pc to 23.7 million TEU
Date:2021-11-23 Readers:
THE Port of Shenzhen has posted a 10.7 per cent year-on-year increase in January-October throughput to 23.788 million TEU, reports Jacksonville's Container News.

Foreign trade was up 11.3 per cent to 21.99 million TEU, and empties' throughput increased 18 per cent to 7.35 million TEU.

During the period the port handled vessels of 62 international container liner routes.

Shenzhen's transportation department said Covid caused congestion that resulted in a shortage of shipping capacity.

According to officials, that helped to increase transportation of foreign trade and provide cargo owners with as much space as possible.

The Ministry of Transport of China recently formulated and issued the "14th Five-Year Development Plan for Comprehensive Transportation Services" to promote the development of comprehensive transportation services.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period China achieved significant progress in the development of comprehensive transportation services, said the report.
