Hapag-Lloyd adds Le Havre call to its WAX service
Date:2022-06-21 Readers:
MAJOR German international shipping line Hapag-Lloyd has made changes to its West Africa Express (WAX) service, adding a call at Le Havre, France.

According to the carrier, the shift will provide customers with the opportunity of a direct product with a fast transit-time to Tema, Ghana and Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and Benelux, reports London's Port Technology.

The Le Havre call also aims to expand customer supply chain networks between the port and other destinations around the world.

The WAX service will be using the Port of Tangier, Morocco as a key connection point between the North European and West African markets.

In addition, Tangier will ensure the Hamburg connection to West Africa through alternative Hapag-Lloyd services.

The revised service will set sail from tomorrow (June 22), when the MV NileDuth Breda v 2225S box ship is expected to arrive at the French port.

Earlier this month, Hapag-Lloyd also teamed up with Norfolk Southern, Union Pacific Railroad, and the Port of Virginia to launch the OceaNS Bridge Express service.

The first-of-its kind service aims to link the East Coast to Western United States, providing shippers with a new way of reaching West Coast markets.

The OceaNS Bridge Express will originate at the Norfolk International Terminal at the Port of Virginia and interchange with Union Pacific in Chicago, with connections to the West Coast.
