Melbourne November port volume falls 8.4pc to 258,449 TEU

THE Port of Melbourne saw a decrease from the throughput handling value of November 2021 by 8.4 per cent, reports London's Port Technology.

November 2022 saw a total container throughput of 258,449 TEU.

Year-to-date container volumes are up 5.6 per cent. Total overseas imports were down 12.16 per cent from November 2021.

Full overseas exports were down 13.81 per cent from November 2021. Total empty container movements were 4.4 per cent above November 2021.

Overall, port congestion and schedule reliability are improving but remain higher than pre-Covid crisis averages.

Container freight rates declined throughout November, though above pre-Covid crisis levels.
