Date:2023-02-03 Readers:
CHINA's ports recorded a total container volume of 295.9 million TEU in 2022, representing a 4.7 per cent year-on-year increase.

The Port of Dalian saw the largest container throughput increase of all Chinese ports in 2022, handling 4.46 million TEU, a 21.5 per cent year-on-year increase.

The Port of Shanghai handled 47.3 million TEU in 2022, reports London's Port Technology.

While this reflected the biggest container throughput for a port in China, it was yet the lowest year-on-year increase of 0.6 per cent.

The Port of Yinkou was the only Chinese port to decrease its container throughput in 2022, handling 5 million TEU which reflects a 4 per cent decrease from 2021.

Shanghai Port announced plans to build a new US$7.2 billion container terminal in September 2022 to facilitate its container volume numbers.
