Manila's red tape police says box monitoring to go ahead
Date:2023-03-16 Readers:
THE Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has agreed to amend new rules requiring registration and monitoring of containers, but only after they have been implemented for a trial period, reports Malaysia's Business Insight.

The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) said PPA also signified that the implementing operational guidelines of Administrative Order 04-2021 will be subjected to a pilot implementation and will be amended accordingly to address problems.

This after ARTA gave the regulatory impact submission (RIS) of PPA a good practice rating, garnering a score of 36 out of 40. This indicates the RIS has elements where analysis or the process were not of exceptional quality and could have been improved.

There were no details provided but the new rule has received opposition from business organisations, citing it is an added cost burden.
