China Merchants Port posts 1.1pc box volume increase in 2022
Date:2023-04-14 Readers:
CHINA Merchants Port posted a 1.1 per cent container throughput increase in the past year and a small decline in bulk cargo volume, reports UK's Seatrade Maritime News.

Out of the total container throughput, the group's ports in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan accounted for 102.65 million TEU, representing a 1.2 per cent increase compared to the previous year. This growth was mainly attributed to the increase in container volume in the West Shenzhen Port Zone, the Yangtze River Delta region, and the Bohai Rim region in mainland China.

The group's overseas ports also recorded an increase of 0.9 per cent in the total container volume, reaching 33.88 million TEU.

"Notwithstanding the fluctuating economic environment in 2022, the container business volume of West Shenzhen and overseas home base ports hit record high," said the company.
