APSEZ, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone have reported a year-on-year increase of five per cent in the handling of 8.6 million TEU from April 2022 to March 2023, reports London's Port Technology.
Mundra Port alone handled 6.6 million TEU. APSEZ recorded its largest port cargo volumes at 339 million tonnes, with a year-on-year growth of nine per cent.
The total cargo handled in March increased by 9.5 per cent year-on-year, crossing the 30 million tonne mark for the first time since July 2022.
Mundra remains India's largest seaport, handling 155 million tonnes of total cargo during the year.
APSEZ also achieved a new milestone by handling over 500,000 TEU of container rakes, with a year-on-year increase of 24 per cent.
Krishnapatnam Port, among India's ports that can handle cape-size vessels with deeper drafts, recorded the highest departure draft in Indian maritime history.
Mundra also handled the deepest container vessel ever handled by any Indian port - the 14,428-TEU MSC Washington with an arrival draft of 17 metres, and the largest vessel - the 15,194-TEU MSC Fatama, with a vessel length of 366 metres.
