AS of April 8, all vessels certified by Russia's Maritime Register of Shipping are prohibited from accessing Bulgarian sea and river ports, regardless of their flag, reports Marine Insight.
This decision was made in compliance with the EU's directive to impose sanctions.
Initially, the Bulgarian government only banned Russian vessels from entering its ports on April 17, 2022, in accordance with the fifth set of European sanctions.
However, the ban has now been extended to include Russian vessels flying flags of other nations.
