New HMM service covers Mediterranean and Indian markets
Date:2023-07-12 Readers:
SOUTH KOREA'S HMM has announced plans to introduce an independent shipping service connecting Asia, India, and the Mediterranean, starting in August, reports New York's Journal of Commerce.

The South Korean carrier aims to meet the increasing demand in both regions through this initiative.

For the Far East-India-Med (FIM) service, HMM will utilise its own fleet of vessels ranging in size from 8,000 to 11,000 TEU.

The inaugural sailing is scheduled for August 6 from Busan, marking the beginning of an 84-day round trip.

"With the introduction of the FIM service, we are expected to extend our reach to India and Mediterranean," said HMM.

"In particular, India has gained high attraction with more than seven per cent annual growth, the highest in the world. HMM seeks to be more competitive besides on the main east-west trade lanes. In that regard, FIM service is a part of that move."
