Long An connects seven berths, launches container handling service
Date:2023-07-14 Readers:
ON June 24, Long An International Port, located near the mouth of Vietnam's Mekong River, completed its eight-year-long construction and officially linked all its seven berths, reports the UK's Seatrade Maritime News.

Having successfully inaugurated its container handling service, Long An is now turning attention to the next stage of expansion, which involves the development of three additional berths. This expansion plan includes the construction of a cruise berth and a specialised berth for liquefied petroleum gas.

"I would like to express my delight on behalf of the employees of Long An International Port as we officially welcome the first container vessel to our port with an impressive operational performance," said Long An International Port Operation & Management JSC CEO Peter Hendrik Slootweg.

"We are ready in terms of operational capacity and equipment to handle containers safely and efficiently. We plan to reach 1,000,000 TEU by 2030 and handle 10 million tons of general cargo through the port."
