COSCO Shipping Holdings has announced a new weekly service, ESE2, connecting North Europe and Mediterranean to the East Coast of South America (ECSA).
The new branded ESE2 service will commence in Montevideo on September 16, 2023, reports London's Port Technology.
The ESE2 rotation is Rotterdam, London Gateway, Hamburg, Antwerp, Lisbon, Algeciras, Santos, Paranagua, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Itapoa, Paranagua, Santos, Rio De Janeiro, Algeciras and returning to Rotterdam.
COSCO said in a statement that the ESE2 will feature full coverage of the South America East region and radiated to markets such as Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay more effectively.
The callings such as Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Paranagua, Itapoa and other major ports in Plata are included, it said.
ESE2 calls various base ports in Europe including consuming markets such as UK, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.
"ESE2 provides stable weekly service and offer very competitive transit time for ECSA to Europe (Santos to Rotterdam 18 days) and vice versa (Rotterdam to Santos 26 days) which assists its clients to achieve greater goals," the shipping liner said.
The news of the new service comes two months after COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) began works on its second 700 TEU electric containership (N998).
Last month, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Technology (Weihai) signed an order for methanol fuel supply system for four 16,000 TEU containerships with COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou).
More recently, COSCO Shipping Corporation established a collaboration with the domestic agriculture and food products processing firm Yihai Kerry for the development of industry supply chains.
