Security boosted at Costa Rica's APM Terminals with new box scanners
Date:2023-07-20 Readers:
THE government of Costa Rica and APM Terminals Moin are to use two new container scanners to increase security for boxes leaving the terminal.

The new equipment will join an existing scanner that has been in operation since 2020 aiming to provide better tools to the government of Costa Rica in order to prevent illegal cargo and container contamination, reports Container News.

The investment was made by APM Terminals Moin and the scanners will be implemented and operated by the Costa Rican authorities. They will provide greater security for the country's exports. From July 13, the government of Costa Rica will handle the security of the Moin Container Terminal (TCM) through local law enforcement.

Leo Huisman, regional director of APM Terminals Americas, commented: "Our terminal improves the country's connectivity to various markets, allowing exports and imports to numerous countries."

He added that inauguration of these scanners will allow customers and international markets to see Costa Rica as a safer country and improve the country's reputation.
