OOCL 2023 revenues plunge 60pc as liftings increase by 2.9pc

HONG Kong's Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), a unit of COSCO, has announced that total revenues in 2023 decreased by 59.6 per cent to US$7.536 billion from $18,672 billion in 2022.

Total liftings increased by 2.9 per cent and the loadable capacity increased by 8.0 per cent.

The overall load factor was 4.0 per cent lower than in 2022, while average revenue per TEU decreased by 60.8 per cent.

OOCL announced in its statement that fourth quarter revenues decreased by 49 per cent to US$1.62 billion from $3.182 billion in 2022.

Total liftings in Q4, ended December 31, 2023, increased by 7.2 per cent and the loadable capacity increased by 9.1 per cent.

The overall load factor was 1.5 per cent lower than the same period in 2022.

The average revenue per TEU decreased by 52.5 per cent compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.
