MSC is taking a 49pc stake in Adani's Ennore container terminal

TERMINAL Investment Ltd (TIL), the container terminal operating arm of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has taken a 49 per cent stake in Adani Ennore Container Terminal (AECT).

This is Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) second partnership with TIL, following a joint venture to operate the CT3 Container Terminal at Mundra Port, according to The Maritime Standard of Dubai.

Currently AECT operates 400 metres of quay, has an annual container throughput capacity of 800,000 TEU, which can be expanded to 1.4 million TEU a year, and has a concession ending in 2044.

Located on India s east coast, AECT handled 550,000 TEU in the 2023 financial year, and 450,000 TEU in the first eight months of the current fiscal year. In November 2023, AECT achieved a monthly throughput record of more than 65,000 TEU, surpassing an earlier peak volume of 59,985 TEU.
