Two liner giants announce: price hikes

Effective 15 April, Duffy will increase FAK on Asia to Northern Europe routes and Hapag-Lloyd will increase FAK on Far East to Northern Europe and Mediterranean routes.

Duffy and Hapag-Lloyd announced plans to increase prices on their routes.

Specifically, Duffy will increase FAK on the Asia-North Europe route from 15 April, involving dry containers, special containers, cold containers and empty containers.

The new rates will be effective from all Asian ports (including Japan, South East Asia and Bangladesh) to all North European ports (including UK and from Portugal to Finland/Estonia).

The new rates are US$2200/TEU and US$4000/FEU.

It is worth noting that this is from Duffy's most recent increase in freight rates on the Asia-North Europe route, only two weeks apart.

March 22, Duffy announced from April 1, up Asia - Northern Europe route FAK, the standard is 2100 U.S. dollars / TEU, 3800 U.S. dollars / FEU.

In addition, according to Duffy announced on 1 January this year, Asia to the Nordic route charges, when the FAK for 1600 U.S. dollars / TEU, 3,000 U.S. dollars / FEU, which means that the last four months, Duffy Asia to the Nordic routes freight rate has risen by more than 30%.

Another major liner giant Hapag-Lloyd also announced that from 15 April, upward adjustments to the Far East to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean route FAK.

Hapag-Lloyd's new rates are as follows

- Far East to North Europe, USD1,600/TEU, USD3,000/FEU.

- Far East to Western Mediterranean, USD 2950/TEU, USD 3700/FEU.

- Far East to Adriatic Sea, US$2975/TEU, US$3750/FEU.

- Far East to Eastern Mediterranean, Black Sea (Bulgaria, Romania), Turkey and Egypt, US$3470/TEU, US$4100/FEU

- Far East to North Africa, US$3675/TEU, US$4900/FEU.

Earlier, Hapag-Lloyd announced the following tariffs from 1 April.

- Far East to North Europe, US$1,600/TEU, US$3,000/FEU.

- Far East to Western Mediterranean, USD2,800/TEU, USD3,500/FEU.

- Far East to Adriatic Sea, US$2,825/TEU, US$3,550/FEU.

- Far East to Eastern Mediterranean, Black Sea (Bulgaria, Romania), Turkey and Egypt, US$3,300/TEU, US$3,900/FEU.

- Far East to North Africa, US$3,475/TEU, US$4,700/FEU.

This means that in the last two weeks, Hapag-Lloyd Asia-Europe route freight rates increased by an average of about 5 per cent.
