A few days ago, the ocean network link shipping (ONE) AP1 route officially launched, ONE and China Merchants Port (South China) Operations Centre, in Shenzhen Shekou Port jointly held the inaugural ceremony of the AP1 route. The new route will connect Asia and the West Coast of the United States, providing customers with more flexible and diversified services.
ONE Hong Kong and South China Director Li Sheng Yang, Deputy General Manager of China Merchants Port (South China) Operation Centre Zhang Yiyi, and Captain of the SEASPAN BEYOND were invited to attend the inauguration ceremony.
Mr Li said: "The launch of AP1 responds to the growing demand for Asia-West services and demonstrates our commitment to providing quality services to our customers and business partners. We believe that the AP1 service will further enhance ONE's trans-Pacific network in South China."
It is understood that the AP1 service is jointly launched by Wan Hai Shipping and ONE, and the ports of call are as follows: Haiphong - Gaimei - Shekou - Xiamen - Taipei - Ningbo - Shanghai - Los Angeles - Auckland - Shekou - Haiphong.
ONE has repeatedly emphasised the importance of the trans-Pacific market to the company, and the launch of the new route will complement its existing route network and consolidate its market position against the backdrop of continued growth in cargo volumes from Asia to the US West.
Recently, previously affected by the U.S. West Terminal negotiations transferred to the U.S. East Coast cargo, is returning to the U.S. West Coast market, the U.S. West Coast imports climbed month by month.
The throughput of the Port of Long Beach in April this year hit a new high for the year, and achieved eight consecutive months of growth. If the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles data combined, the first quarter of this year, the U.S. West of the two ports of the container throughput increased by 23 per cent year-on-year.
According to China's General Administration of Customs data released in the first four months of this year, China's exports to the United States totalled 1.08 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.4 per cent, a trade surplus of 692.41 billion yuan, an expansion of 5.4 per cent year-on-year, showing that China's exports to the United States continue to maintain steady growth, the North American routes play a long-term support for the transport demand.
