New Era Shipbuilding Delivers Hapag-Lloyd 13,000 TEU Container Ship

On the morning of 30th May, the naming and delivery ceremony of New Era Shipbuilding's 4#13,000-box container ship ‘IQUIQUE EXPRESS’ was held in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, which was delivered to the German owner Hapag-Lloyd for operation, and thus Jiangsu New Era Shipbuilding Co. 2,046,600 DWT.

General Manager Liu Haijin, Executive Deputy General Manager Zhang Yuyong, Deputy General Manager Yuan Heng, together with Dr. Maximilian Rothkopf, Chief Operating Officer of Hapag-Lloyd, Lutz-Michael Dyck, Senior Director of Fleet, Ms. Bin Li, General Manager of Midea International Logistics, Carsten Ostenfeld, Chief Operating Officer of Anglo-Eastern, Chartworld Shipping Company, and Mr. Lutz-Michael Dyck, Chief Operating Officer of Chartworld Shipping Company, were invited to the ceremony. Spyros Papandreou, Newbuilding Manager of Chartworld Shipping, Christophe Vaes, Newbuilding Manager China of Bureau Veritas and other guests attended the event.

Godmother Bentley named the new vessel ‘IQUIQUE EXPRESS’ and wished the new vessel and the crew sailing with her all the best.

After the naming ceremony, the signing and delivery ceremony of 4#13,000 TEU container vessel was held in the bridge, where Executive Vice President Zhang Yuyong signed the delivery document with Dr. Maximilian Rothkopf, COO of Hapag-Lloyd and Lutz-Michael Dyck, Senior Director of Fleet, and the vessel was formally delivered to the owner for operation.

4#13,000 TEU Container Vessel has an overall length of 335 metres, 325 metres between the two columns, a beam of 51 metres, a depth of 27.3 metres, a design draught of 13 metres, a structural draught of 16 metres, an air height (above the datum line) of less than 65 metres and a deadweight tonnage of 139,550 metric tonnes (under structural draught). The German ship owner Hapag-Lloyd ordered two 13,000 TEU containerships from New Era Shipbuilding, which have all been completed and delivered.
