Nasdaq-listed Greek container ship owner Euroseas announced that it has entered into a charter for the upcoming delivery of the 1,800 TEU container vessel "Pepi Star" for a minimum of 23 months and a maximum of 25 months at a daily charter rate of USD 24,500, commencing from the time of delivery on or about 19 July 2024, and that the vessel is expected to be ready for delivery by the end of this year. The charter is for a minimum of 23 months and a maximum of 25 months at a daily rate of USD 24,500, commencing upon delivery on 19 July 2024.
Aristides Pittas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Euroseas, said, "We are pleased to announce that we have signed a charter with a head liner at a daily rate of USD 24,250 for the last of our three 1,800 TEU containerships. Furthermore, this will increase Eurosea's chartering coverage to around 91 per cent in 2024."
The daily charter rate for the sister vessel Stephania K has increased by $2,250 or 10% compared to the $22,000 per day rate for the vessel a week ago (10 June). Meanwhile, on 13 May, Euroseas took delivery of the 1,800 TEU series sister ship 'Monica'. Upon delivery, the vessel commenced a 10-12 month charter with Duffy Group at a daily rate of US$16,000.
This is a clear indication of the continued strength of the chartering market over the past few months, both in terms of charter rates and duration, he noted.
As of today, Euroseas has a fleet of 22 containerships totalling 66,261 TEUs, in addition to four newbuilding orders, including two 2,800 TEU container newbuildings and two 1,800 TEU containerships, which are expected to be delivered in 2024.
