Yangtze River shipping stuck in traffic, as costs rise

CHINA's Yangtze River, Asia's longest and one of its busiest waterways, suffers from choke points hindering transport efficiency, reports Hong Kong's South China Morning Post.

Calls for significant improvements are growing to boost the local economies it connects.

Shipping industry professionals, experts, and local officials from four provinces and a municipality along the river gathered in Chongqing to discuss "high-quality" shipping development in the upper Yangtze region.
