Pingtan Port welcomes the largest tonnage container ship since the opening of the port.

Recently, Pingtan Port Jinjing Terminal ushered in the first 10,000-tonne container ship "Oriental Xiamen", the ship arrived at the port to carry out loading and unloading operations. This is also the largest tonnage container ship berthing since the opening of Pingtan Port.

According to reports, the ship's overall length of 121.87 metres, 20 metres wide, 10.7 metres deep, 10,683 tons deadweight tonnage, can carry 566 TEUs. The ship sails from Kaohsiung port in Taiwan, the cargo includes frozen squid and shampoo, shower gel and other small trade commodities, the future will be the normal operation of the "Kaohsiung - Pingtan - Fuzhou" direct cargo routes, plans to weekly 1 voyage, to further enhance the Pingtan on the southern part of Taiwan's container ship capacity. It is planned to operate one voyage per week, which will further enhance the capacity of Pingtan's container ships to the south of Taiwan.

In order to ensure that the ship to complete the operation on time and in an orderly manner, Pingtan Customs, border inspection, port and other departments to actively linkage, develop special programmes, timely grasp of the dynamic information of the ship, and actively optimize the inspection, supervision and other measures to effectively improve the efficiency of customs clearance of ships.

The reporter learned that since the beginning of this year, Pingtan port imports of agricultural and fishery products increased significantly, the original route ships are basically full, cross-border e-commerce new business is booming, the demand for ship capacity within the area of enterprises, the port economy to achieve the "accelerated run". Data show that from January to May, the container throughput of Pingtan port was 29,000 boxes, an increase of 22.74% year-on-year; the import and export of 78,600 tonnes of goods, an increase of 198.9% year-on-year.
