July Update! Latest ranking of the top 100 global liner shipping companies in terms of capacity

According to the latest data released by Alphaliner, as of July 8, the number of container ships in operation in the world totalled 7,006, with a total capacity of 30,182,700 TEU, which is equivalent to about 358 million deadweight tonnes. Among them, the total capacity of the top three liner companies accounted for 46.62% of the global market.


The top three global liner companies in terms of capacity are Mediterranean Shipping Company (5,979,700 TEU, accounting for 19.81 per cent), Maersk Line (4,330,300 TEU, accounting for 14.35 per cent) and Duffy Line (3,762,000 TEU, accounting for 12.46 per cent).

Alphaliner pointed out that the 4th and 10th places in the capacity ranking are: COSCO Shipping Group, Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Net Link Shipping (ONE), Evergreen Marine, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Star Line and Yang Ming Marine. The top seven have a capacity of more than 1.5 million TEU.

Ranked 11th to 20th are Wan Hai Shipping, Taiping Shipping, SITC International, KMTC, X-Press Feeders Group, Sea Lead Shipping, IRISL, UniFeeder, Changjin Merchant Marine and Dexiang Shipping.

Among the Chinese mainland liner companies on the list, COSCO Shipping Container Lines ranked 4th, SITC International ranked 13th, Zhongguo Xinliang Shipping ranked 21st, Antong Holding (Quanzhou Ansheng Shipping) ranked 23rd, Ningbo COSCO ranked 24th, Tangshan Port Heder Shipping ranked 30th, Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping ranked 33rd, Sinotrans Container Lines ranked 34th, China United Shipping ranked 38th. Yangpu Xinyuan Shipping ranked 44th, Taicang Port Containerised Shipping ranked 56th, Dalian Jifa Bohai Sea Containerised Shipping ranked 82nd, Hai'an Xingang Port Shipping ranked 85th, Tianjin Datong Shipping ranked 86th and Guangxi Hongxiang Shipping ranked 95th.
