The latest layout of COSCO Shipping's green development!
Date:2024-07-30 Readers:
(hereinafter referred to as COSCO Shipping) and Fortescue Ltd, a leading global green technology, energy and metals company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Shanghai on 25th July. Relying on their respective technological and resource advantages, the two parties will work together to build a green fuel supply chain, push forward the change of the energy structure of the shipping industry, and join hands to promote the green development of the shipping industry to contribute to the construction of a green, low-carbon and sustainable global shipping ecosystem. Both parties will leverage their respective technical and resource advantages to jointly build a green fuel supply chain, promote the transformation of the shipping industry's energy structure, join hands to promote the green development of the shipping industry, and contribute to the building of a green, low-carbon and sustainable global shipping ecology.

According to the MOU, COSCO Shipping and Fordyce River will co-operate to develop technologies to reduce emissions and establish a green fuel supply chain. This includes exploring the construction and deployment of COSCO Shipping freighters fuelled by green ammonia or jointly owned freighters to transport iron ore and other minerals to reduce carbon emissions in the China-Australia Iron Ore Green Shipping Corridor.

The signing ceremony was attended by Fordyce River's Chief Executive Officer for Metals, Mr Dino, and COSCO Shipping's Deputy General Manager, Mr Lin Ji, witnessing a new milestone in the deepening and expansion of the already well-established cooperation between the two parties in the transport of bulk cargoes between Australia and China.

Fords River said that the shipping industry plays a vital role in global international trade. This collaboration marks another important step in decarbonising the shipping industry and establishing a green fuel supply chain, paving the way for cooperation on a variety of decarbonisation solutions that we believe are integral to achieving our ambition of achieving Scope 3 net zero emissions by 2040.

COSCO Shipping said that green and low carbon has become a new trend to promote the sustainable development of shipping, and COSCO Shipping is committed to making green and low carbon one of the two major development tracks, increasing co-operation with global partners, and joining hands to jointly build an industry development ecosystem that is digital, green, open, shared and safe, and to actively promote the green, low carbon and sustainable development of the shipping industry in its entire life cycle.
