Box ship transits in Q4 up to 68 days from 60
Date:2025-02-20 Readers:

THE average global container transit time surged to 68 days in Q4 2024, up from 60 days a year earlier, according to E2open's Ocean Shipping Index, reports DC Velocity, of Massachusetts.

The delays, spanning from booking to final port clearance, are attributed to geopolitical tensions, labour shortages and port congestion.

E2open's CSO Pawan Joshi warned that the upcoming Lunar New Year (January 29 - February 8) will likely exacerbate these disruptions as businesses rush to place orders before factory closures in Asia.

This rush strains already stretched supply chains, particularly with ongoing Red Sea diversions and potential new US tariffs compounding the situation.
