CONTAINER throughput at the Port of Long Beach has risen for the ninth straight month with February posting a 13.4 per cent increase to 765,385 TEU.
Imports surged 11.8 per cent year on year in February to 368,669 TEU, while exports gained 2.9 per cent to 90,026 TEU. Empties were up 19.1 per cent to 306,690 TEU.
The port handled 1.7 million TEU in the first two months of 2025, marking a 27.4 per cent increase from 2024.
Recently, Long Beach introduced two incentive programmes worth US$57.4 million to help expedite emissions reductions by funding the acquisition of zero-emission cargo-handling equipment and cleaner harbour vessels.
