KOREAN shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean has secured an order to build six 24,000-TEU LNG dual-fuel containerships for Taiwanese owner Evergreen Marine, reports UK's Bunkerspot.

The ultra-large container vessels will feature dual-fuel propulsion engines, shaft generator motor systems (SGM) and air lubrication systems (ALS), Hanwha said in a statement published today (March 17).

The deal is worth KRW2.3 trillion (US$1.59 billion), Korean news agency Yonhap reports, and marks the first contract between the two companies.

Evergreen operates a fleet of over 200 containerships.
