Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, has recorded a 45.32 per cent year-on-year increase in cargo throughput for April 2025, driven by a sharp rise in container traffic.

The port handled 5.967 million metric tonnes of cargo, with container volumes reaching 75,716 TEU, a 31.18 per cent increase compared to the same month last year.

The port's performance positions it as the fastest-growing major port in India for April 2025.
