Haropa Port handles more containers but less bulk cargo in H1
Date:2025-07-30 Readers:
HAROPA Port handled 1.51 million TEU between January and June 2025, up 4 per cent compared to the already record-setting first half of 2024.

This momentum is also reflected in tonnage terms (+2 per cent, or 14.78 million tonnes), hinterland flows (1.08 million TEU), and transshipment volumes (0.43 million TEU) at Haropa Port.

Meanwhile, modal shift to mass transport continues to grow; river container transport increased by 8.5 per cent in TEU, while rail transport rose by 16.7 per cent through the end of May.

These figures reflect the strengthening of low-carbon logistics on the Seine corridor, in line with Haropa Port's strategy.

In the first half of 2025, Haropa Port recorded maritime traffic of 39.9 million tonnes, down 4.9 per cent. While bulk cargo is declining, the increase in container traffic - 1.51 MTEU, +4 per cent compared with the first half of 2024 - remains notable.

Liquid bulk reached 18.38 million tonnes at the end of June, a 5.9 per cent decrease compared to the first half of 2024. While refined products dropped by 16.3 per cent (6.54 million tonnes), crude oil rose by 7 per cent (9.48 million tonnes). The overall decline is partly due to a maintenance shutdown at the Esso refineries in Port-Jerome-sur-Seine and Gonfreville l'Orcher.

Solid bulk totalled 5.79 million tonnes, down 19 per cent, reports London's Port Technology International.
