| China exports jump 7.2 pc ahead of US tariff deadline |

China's exports rose sharply in July, outpacing forecasts and raising concerns over renewed trade tensions with the US as a tariff truce nears expiry, reported London's Financial Times.
Official data released by China's customs administration on Thursday showed exports increased 7.2 per cent year-on-year in US dollar terms, the fastest pace since April and well above the 5.4 per cent forecast in a Reuters poll. Imports rose 4.1 per cent, marking the strongest growth in 12 months.
The figures come days before the expiration of a tariff truce between Beijing and Washington, which could reignite trade hostilities between the world's two largest economies.
Meanwhile, sweeping new US tariffs targeting trading partners from India to Switzerland came into effect, lifting Washington's overall levy levels to their highest in a century.
China has so far avoided direct impact from the latest round of US tariffs, as negotiations continue over trade flows involving key goods such as rare earths and semiconductors.
