Wan Hai Lines names final 13,100-TEUer at Geoje shipyard
Date:2025-10-17 Readers:

Wan Hai Lines has named the last vessel in its 13,100 TEU containership series, Wan Hai A20, at a ceremony held on August 14 at Samsung Heavy Industries' shipyard in Geoje, South Korea, reports London's Logistics Manager.

The event was officiated by Charles Chen, President of Wan Hai Lines Japan Ltd and SA Choi, CEO of Samsung Heavy Industries. Irene Tsai, spouse of Fubon Group chairman Daniel Tsai, performed the christening ritual.

Wan Hai A20 is the 30th vessel in the series ordered in 2021 and 2022. Each ship measures 335 metres in length, 51 metres in width and has a 16-metre draft. The vessels feature fuel-efficient engines and Smart Ship Notation for real-time monitoring.

The final three ships, beginning with WAN HAI A18, include wind deflectors on the forecastle to improve fuel savings on long-haul voyages. Wan Hai A20 will be deployed on the Asia to South America West Coast service.

Wan Hai Lines plans to expand its fleet further with 30 newbuilds scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2030. The company aims to enhance tonnage and service reliability across its global network.

In line with its corporate motto, We carry, we care, Wan Hai Lines made a charitable donation to Sungro Orphanage during the naming ceremony, underscoring its commitment to community engagement.
