WEC Lines adds 2nd vessel to Spain-Liverpool run
Date:2025-10-09 Readers:

Dutch shipping firm WEC Lines has expanded its service between Spain and Liverpool by adding a second vessel and revamping its UK IE Spain route, reported UK's Business Desk.

The updated service, now called NWC Spain, includes weekly sailings from Le Havre and Bilbao into the UK and Ireland, with new ports of call at Antwerp, Montoir-de-Bretagne and Gijon.

Departing Bilbao on Fridays, the service reaches Liverpool on Mondays and Dublin on Wednesdays, offering a faster alternative to road transport from Spain to the UK and Ireland.

Transit times from Antwerp and Montoir-de-Bretagne to Bilbao are seven and two days respectively, enabling smooth rail connections to key Spanish cities including Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid.

From Liverpool, rail links extend to Belfast, Mossend and Greenock, enhancing inland distribution across the UK.

The service is operated by two dedicated 812- and 822-TEU vessels on a fixed weekly rotation, improving flexibility and efficiency for customers.

Managing director Caesar Luikenaar said the expansion meets market demand and strengthens WEC's offering for Spanish clients trading with North Western Europe.
