The full-year 2025 container import forecast has been revised to 24.79 million TEU, down 2.9 per cent from 2024's 25.5 million TEU, reported Reuters.
The first half of 2025 saw strong performance, with 12.53 million TEU handled, marking a 3.7 per cent increase year-on-year. However, the outlook for the remainder of the year has weakened.
October's forecast is slightly improved from September's projection of 24.7 million TEU, which had indicated a 3.4 per cent annual decline. Analysts say the revision suggests the industry is coping slightly better with tariff pressures than expected.
Looking ahead, January 2026 volumes are projected at 1.87 million TEU, down 16.1 per cent year-on-year, while February is expected to reach 1.77 million TEU, a 12.8 per cent decline.
