DP World invests US$288 million in Uzbekistan hub
Date:2025-10-24 Readers:

Dubai's DP World has partnered with Tashkent Invest to develop a multimodal logistics terminal near Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with a total investment exceeding US$288 million, reports London's Port Technology International.

The facility will be located in the Yangi Avlod Special Industrial Zone in the Yangihayot district and aims to boost Uzbekistan's logistics capacity and regional trade ambitions. DP World will hold an 85 per cent stake in the joint venture, DP World Tashkent LLC, while Tashkent Invest will hold 15 per cent.

The terminal will be developed in three phases across 82 hectares and include a rail-connected dry port, customs zones, vehicle storage, truck parking, and warehouse facilities. Phase one, expected by 2026-2027, will feature a 150,000 TEU/year rail terminal and 63,000 square metres of warehouse space.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, DP World's chairman and CEO, said the terminal will deliver smart logistics infrastructure and enhance supply chain efficiency across industries.

Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov said the project will increase the city's production and export potential and attract global investors. He added that the partnership will introduce modern logistics technologies to the capital.

The terminal will serve as a strategic link between Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe, integrating with DP World's global logistics network.
