Interasia begins building 7,000-TEU ship in Shanghai
Date:2025-10-28 Readers:
Interasia has commenced construction of a 7,000 TEU container vessel with a steel cutting ceremony at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard, marking a key milestone in its fleet renewal strategy, reports London's Logistics Manager.

The ceremony, held August 11 at the SWS facility in China, marked the start of work on Hull No 1656. The vessel is part of Interasia's broader plan to modernize its fleet and enhance service capabilities.

Brendan Williams, special assistant to the executive vice president, signed the official documents on behalf of Interasia. The first steel plate was cut using a precision beam cutting machine, symbolising the formal launch of the construction phase.

The ship is scheduled for delivery next June. Once operational, it is expected to boost Interasia's capacity and support its commitment to providing reliable, competitive and environmentally responsible shipping services.
