Greece-based and New York-listed Diana Shipping has signed a time charter contract with Denmark's Dampskibsselskabet Norden for its capesize vessel Santa Barbara, reported Denmark's Shipping Telegraph.
The 179,426-dwt bulk carrier, built in 2015, will be chartered at a gross rate of US$25,500 per day, less a five per cent commission, for a period running from minimum March 1, 2027 to maximum April 30, 2027. The charter begins November 29, 2025.
Santa Barbara is currently chartered to Mitsui OSK Lines at $22,000 per day, less commission. The new employment is expected to generate about $11.48 million in gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period.
Diana Shipping's fleet consists of 36 dry bulk vessels, including four newcastlemax, eight capesize, four post-panamax, six kamsarmax, five panamax and nine ultramax ships.
The company also expects delivery of two methanol dual fuel kamsarmax new-buildings in the second half of 2027 and the first half of 2028. Excluding these, the fleet's combined carrying capacity is about 4.1 million dwt, with a weighted average age of 11.96 years.
