Florida's Port Everglades has set new records in all three of its core business sectors - cruise, cargo and energy - for fiscal year 2025. It is the first time the port has simultaneously surpassed its highest volumes in each category, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
Cargo operations reached 1,167,552 TEU, the highest in the port's history. Officials said the milestone reflects stronger global trade ties, expanded capacity and rising demand from Latin America, the Caribbean and other regions.
In energy, Port Everglades moved 131,855,261 barrels of petroleum products, reaffirming its position as Florida's top petroleum port. The facility supplies fuel to 12 counties and five international airports.
Cruise traffic also surged, with a preliminary count of 4,773,873 passengers, up 16 per cent year on year.
Port Director Joseph Morris said the record-breaking performance reflects strong partnerships and resilience across business lines. He noted the port's diversified portfolio positions it to adapt and lead as markets evolve.
With more than US$3 billion in long-term capital improvements planned under its Master/Vision Plan, Port Everglades is preparing for continued growth in capacity, efficiency and sustainability.
