Greek owner Cape Shipping has signed a contract for two very large crude carriers with CSSC Beihai Shipbuilding, reported UK's Seatrade Maritime News.
The 319,000 dwt vessels are part of the Morning Star series developed by Beihai Shipbuilding. Each will measure 339.5 metres in length and 60 metres in width, and will be fitted with energy-saving devices to boost efficiency.
The ships will also feature an ammonia-ready design, allowing installation of two 6,000 cubic metre fuel tanks for zero-carbon operations. Delivery is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2028.
Cape Shipping currently operates 18 vessels, including seven container ships, seven bulk carriers and four tankers. It has six more tankers on order for delivery in 2026 and 2027.
Beihai Shipbuilding previously delivered its first VLCC in November 2025 to Belgian owner CMB.TECH, underscoring its capability in constructing large-scale oil tankers.
