Date:2011-04-25 Readers:

SCHEDULED flights connecting Chengdu and Nanning to Ho Chi Minh City has resumed, bringing the total of flight services between Guangxi and ASEAN countries to 10, Xinhua reports.

The 10 services are from Nanning to Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Vientiane, Yangon, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, and from Guilin to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.

There are 180 domestic and international air routes in Guangxi. The local government is still working on persuading higher authorities into granting more preferential policies for opening skies and for foreign carriers to set up base there. They are also applying for supportive policies and funds to turn Nanning airport into a hub for people and cargo flow between China and ASEAN countries.
