Saudi ports handled 8.32 million TEU in 2025, a 10.6 per cent rise from 7.52 million a year earlier, reported Argaam citing the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI).
Transshipment containers increased 11.8 per cent to 1.93 million TEUs from 1.72 million in 2024, MAWANI said.
Outbound containers rose 11.7 per cent to 3.15 million TEU, while inbound containers climbed 8.8 per cent to 3.42 million TEU.
Total cargo throughput edged up 1.1 per cent to 242.07 million tons. General cargo stood at 12.01 million tons, dry bulk at 176.33 million tons and liquid bulk at 53.74 million tons.
Passenger traffic surged 47.1 per cent to 1.08 million, but ship calls fell 18 per cent to 9,508 from 11,592 in 2024.
Car volumes dropped 4.9 per cent to 1.03 million, while livestock arrivals declined 7.6 per cent to 8.99 million heads.
