Containership operator SITC International Holdings has issued a profit alert, saying it expects earnings of about US$1.2 billion for the year ended December 31, 2025, reports Melbourne's Baird Maritime.

The company said unaudited profit attributable to shareholders is expected to be between US$1.2 billion and $1.23 billion, representing an increase of 16 to 18.9 per cent compared with 2024.

SITC reported container shipping volume of about 3.85 million TEU in 2025, up 7.8 per cent from the previous year. Average freight rates, excluding slot exchange, rose 4.4 per cent to $753 per TEU.

The company attributed the profit rise to stable expansion in the Asian market, which drove higher shipping volumes, and to strategic positioning that improved freight rates.

SITC said the figures are based on preliminary unaudited financial information, with final results expected to be published in March 2026.
