On the morning of November 8, 2010, as invited by Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI), Kim Hak-So, President of Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) led a group of 13 members to the new campus of Shanghai Maritime University, and was warmly received by Professor Huang Youfang, Deputy Director of SISI and Vice President of Shanghai Maritime University. Both sides discussed on the cooperation between KMI and SISI as well as Shanghai Maritime University.

KMI is a governmental research institution under the South Korean Premier Office. Since its establishment in 1997, KMI has been specializing in policy researches of shipping, ports, logistics, marine and aquatic fields and is quite influential in the formulation of relevant policies by the South Korean government. On December 15, 2009, SISI and KMI signed a five-year cooperative agreement, after which the two sides have carried out a series of academic exchanges.
Vice President Huang Youfang expressed a warm welcome to President Kim Hak-So and his group for their visit to Shanghai Maritime University. Director Zhang Jieshu of SISI Office summarized the academic exchanges between both sides in the past one year since the signing of the cooperative agreement. Mr. Huang Youfang and Mr. Kim Hark-So exchanged respective views on more extensive and in-depth cooperation, and established the framework for future cooperation.
Accompanied by Vice President Huang Youfang, President Kim Hak-So and his group visited the new campus of the University. As an expert in Korean logistics and port industry, Mr. Kim was specially appointed by Shanghai Maritime University as the visiting professor. Subsequently, President Kim Hak-So delivered a wonderful speech entitled “China-South Korea Logistics Cooperative Program” to upwards of 150 students.
