British Airways joins DHL air cargo security partnership
Date:2010-03-29 Readers:

BRITISH Airways World Cargo and DHL Global Forwarding have signed an agreement under which BA will join the German express carrier's air cargo security partnership.

The arrangement between the two seeks to create mutual operating procedures for high-risk and high-value air cargo with each working together to implement security protocols.

BA World Cargo managing director Steve Gunning noted that the new tie-up help would enhance supply chain security for both carriers, according to the UK's Handy Shipping Guide. DHL global airfreight head Michael Schaecher said agreements with the airlines was essential to DHL's best-in-class security approach.

In other news, British Airways said that the recent strikes by its crew members had taken a limited toll on its freight operations, with 90 per cent of cargo flights unaffected.
