3PL Jacobson expands into Europe with Rhenus
Date:2011-02-10 Readers:

Strategic partnership opens up European market for U.S. company
Jacobson Companies, a global 3PL headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, is expanding into Europe with the help of a strategic partnership with Rhenus Logistics, a $3.7 billion logistics service provider based in Holzwickede, Germany.
The partnership allows Jacobson access to an extensive logistics network in European countries with one partner, the company said. Jacobson’s International Logistics division will provide regular air and ocean services to Central and Eastern Europe on a scheduled and expedited basis.
Rhenus operates one of the largest LTL road networks in Europe with gateways near the major seaports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp and the Frankfurt airport.
“Rhenus is happy to build a partnership with a company that has a strong growth strategy and professional teams in operations and business development,” Lutz Welter, COO Seafreight of Rhenus Freight Logistics said.
The Jacobson/Rhenus partnership is a major building block in Jacobson’s strategy to create a global end-to-end logistics solution for its customers. Rhenus’ clear understanding of customer commitment, continuous innovation, and sharing of best practices make the partnership with Jacobson a win-win for the expansion into Europe.
“The strategic partnership with Rhenus will not only allow us to provide very competitive trans-Atlantic services, but also offer supply chain services in Europe such as warehousing, value-added services and LTL/FTL services,” Peter Knapp, president of Jacobson International Logistics Services, said.
