Lufthansa Cargo has announced it will double air freight frequencies to and from Japan to 12 a week from November 1, connecting Frankfurt to Tokyo daily using an MD 11-freighter and linking Osaka five times a week.
"Japan has been an important market and we want to take advantage of opportunities," said Andreas Otto, Lufthansa Cargo executive board member responsible for product and sales.
Most Japanese goods flown to Europe are from the electronics, entertainment, the automotive, engineering, optical and photographic industries. Routes to Japan carry engineering products, medical technology, vehicles, auto parts, pharmaceuticals and textiles.
