Bulgarian Railways (BDZ) transported more than 1 million tons of cargo in October 2009. That is an increase by 20.1% compared to September 2009, but still a y-o-y drop by 30.7%.

The transport work in ton/km went up by 22.6% in October, compared to the previous month. Compared with October 2008 a 30.1% decrease was recorded.

A y-o-y drop was recorded also in the passenger transport. 2.7 million people were carried in October 2009, which is 0.5% less than in September 2008. It is also 8.6% less than in the respective period last year, Seenews reported.
