HK slashes airport landing, parking fees by 10pc
Date:2009-05-04 Readers:
THE Hong Kong Airport Authority is lowering landing and parking fees in a bid to kick start the aviation industry that has been hit hard by the global economic crisis.
Hong Kong will reduce both of its charges by 10 per cent for the remainder of the year, as well as defer half of the rental payment on offices and ground facilities until year end.
The move was made at the behest of the Board of the Airline Representatives in Hong Kong, which feared that slowing demand through Hong Kong would jeopardise its standing as a regional aviation hub.
It is essential for airlines and the airport to work closely together, especially in these challenging times, to underpin the competitiveness of the Hong Kong aviation hub, said Cathay Pacific CEO Tony Tyler.
