SHANGHAI's SITC, China's biggest privately owned integrated shipping logistics company, has posted a 10.1 per cent year-on-year increase in throughput to 849,000 TEU for the first seven months of 2011, reports Xinhua.

    The company's average rate also increased by 11.5 per cent to US$550 per TEU during the same period, while its freight forwarding shipments increased 67.6 per cent to 737,814 TEU.

    SITC handled 134,265 TEU in July with a 7.3 per cent growth, while the freight forwarder shipment volume grew 19.2 per cent to 113,800 TEU with an average rate of $545 per TEU, up 7.6 per cent year on year.
