Russia's NCC terminals experience 6.6pc cent growth in first five months

    FIRST Container Terminal at St Petersburg handled between January and May a total of 484,671 TEU, an increase of 6.6 per cent compared to the same period a year earlier.
 

    In May alone container throughput reached a record 115,295 TEU, up 13 per cent year on year.
 

    Since the beginning of the year box traffic between FCT and National Container Company's off-dock terminal in Shushary-Logistika Terminal (LT) - has been growing steadily.


    In January-May 2011 the turnover between FCT and LT rose to 10,374 TEU. The total throughput of Logistika-Terminal in St Petersburg from January-May came to 35,148 TEU. The terminal handled 8,865 TEU in May.
 

    A statement from NCC added that FCT can use its off-dock facility as an additional storage area for customs clearance, storage and distribution.
