KUEHNE + Nagel has taken over the management of the plant warehouse operation for Continental Tyre at its production houses in Port Elizabeth.

    Under the terms of the new contract, Kuehne + Nagel will support Continental Tyre's original equipment and aftermarket dealer business in South Africa.

    The service offering includes receiving tyres from production, carrying out quality control checks, storage, inbound and outbound handling, picking and packing, inventory management as well as management of empty containers. In addition, an external warehousing solution will be provided to manage overflow volumes at Port Elizabeth.

     Henning Kassen, global responsible tyre logistics, warehousing and distribution, Continental Reifen Deutschland GmbH, said the company chose Kuehne + Nagel to partner in South Africa due to its "advanced technical know-how and because of their strategic fit as a global business partner."
